Yes, because Imperialism always works......

"Peace through Strength"......."Work Hard and Be Free"......."Might is Right"  Tired and Old.....that's the best descriptor for these particular motto's but, more to the point, they're also quite fascist in there origins. This is of concern because, as some may be aware, there's resurgent movement within the far right political spectrum of the U.S. that seems hell bent on reviving a very touchy and dangerous policy, that being: expansionism via 'strength' AKA military might.  Here we have Rand Paul, darling of the Tea Party, advocating a reasserting of the U.S. policy of manifest destiny and, no doubt, the Monroe Doctrine....both of which are anathema to freedom, sovereignty and democracy of other nations.  It's bad enough that the U.S. already has Imperial designs but, the notion that they would once again try direct conquest: it's worrisome to say the least.  Most Americans believe they are not conqueror's but that's only because most don't know their history.  Consider the Spanish American War.  Because the U.S. won, the history books favour their point of view but, if you consult non-American and non-Spanish history, you find that that war was very much a war of expansion.  Look further back and you find the aggression known as the war of 1812, in which the U.S. invaded the British holding known as Canada. It didn't end well for the U.S. but it made clear that expansionism was U.S. policy. Although the U.S. has been a force for good in the world, it must not be allowed to reassert imperial or expansionist policies.  Yes, the U.S. has a strong military, but in the age of loose nukes and high tech/virtual warfare, it would not necessarily prevail.  Sabre rattling is a thing of the past and it should remain so.  Take heed Sen. Paul, take heed.........
