ENDA here we go.........

ENDA: Employment Non-Discrimination Act.  Put simply, the act states that a person who identifies as homosexual, bisexual or transgendered cannot be denied opportunity for employment or, if already employed, cannot be dismissed because of their status.  Now, to most rational and reasonable people, this would seem to be a no-brainer.......but no.  

In 29 states of the U.S., it is perfectly legal to terminate the employment of a homosexual, bisexual or transgendered person solely on that basis.  If you're gay, you can be fired for no reason with no recourse or redress.  The reason? Religion.  Think on that for moment and consider the ridiculous logic that feeds it. If a world class surgeon, a man who saves lives daily, is found to be gay, that singular fact could be a reason to fire him.  A woman who, born male, is one of the best lawyers in a firm but can be fired for the simple fact she identifies as she instead of he.  We can't fathom the kind of insecure animus that drives such fear and hate but we do recognize the harm it causes.

ENDA would do away with the flimsy excuses used to hide the real reason for terminating qualified and hard working individuals.  It's the reason that people like Tony "KKK" Perkins and others fear ENDA so.  Yes, it is the ENDA the world as they know it; a world where people's lives are destroyed simply because of who they are.  It wasn't that long ago, the same nonsense was used on workers; only then, it was the colour of their skin that was at issue. To Perkins and others like him, we say: For shame.....for shame......
